It's a full time job. You have to police the forum daily and ban ip's, ip ranges, domain names etc.

I have seen a forum (NOT WHT) modify their posts to something embarrassing and it kept that spam group at bay.

Yeah, that's what we've been doing... btw, they appear to have multiple accounts on WHT; I thought that wasn't allowed?

(And is the helpdesk still being checked? I have a few tickets in there without a response for a bit).

Each individual can have an account. You can't share an account with anyone else though.

The helpdesk is being checked. We get quite a few tickets.

At least 1 duplicate account there, but most likely all 3.

Of course it is spamming. Our forum doesn't allow for ads to be posted (and definitely not in our feedback section). Besides, that's the only post ever made, the ad. When I blacklist the user, you simply sign up for a new one.

If you are continually going around any forum you can find, it would be defined as SPAM and un-wanted rubbish.

    Technically speaking, you'd be wrong.

The advertising section of Webhostingtalk is for advertisements only, the rest of the board shall remain clean from your self-promotions as it is unwanted and unecessary, you may want to read the policies regarding SPAM as I believe you may not know them correctly.

I suppose this is why you are on a SPAM Database for forum spamming

    And:

if you check the IP was listed on 30th March approximately 2 months backs

Second the user posting in forms may have committed a mistake which cannot be termed as "spamming"

The mistake has been corrected which you guy dont seem to appreciate

Second we are not interested in mud slinging here on forums as we know what other forums so and how much they pay in so called "USD"

If your forum has the ability, censor the company and domain name, making ads ineffectual and showing it's not allowed. On WHT, you may see some domains appear as ****; that's a censor here.
Having problems, or maybe questions about WHT? Head over to the help desk!

@bear, there is another good way. You can actually stop the censored words from being posted (used on one of our forum, works charm no need of **** as well )

Yeah, I use a similar setup to here, but you know, the spammers get creative and try to bypass the censor list. Ah, well... such is life I guess

this is the first time I heard of someone modifying their post. wouldn't they get into some sort of a trouble or something? I got banned everytime I broke the rules.

Its not difficult to get a new IP in india.
Ban the domain name, keywords used... this should be the best option.
Please don't block based on IP range... their may be some other users who could be affected.
