Depends what your budget is and do you require management? A lot of hosts will move you for free, mostly fully managed ones but some unmanaged too. Try contacting providers on this board, there's a whole section full of "offers" near the bottom of the forum.

You're changing your host because you can't get someone to hold your hand through FTP?

It sounds like you need a server from a managed provider. Keep in mind migrations are costly and if you want it done right a $29/month management package probably isn't what you are looking for. Check the managed services forum on here and the offers section, that should get you going in the right direction.

Why not find a 3rd party management company who can help you transfer your old server to a new server you purchase?

Buying from a company, based simply on the fact that they'll do the transfer, is bad new bears. Talk to HiVelocity about getting a more powerful server and then reach out to a company like AdminGeekz - http://www.admingeekz.com/ and have them perform the transfer for you.

Considering that nobody is asking you this... let me be the 1st to ask. What are you running on the server which is having such a high load?

Is there something special running or do you perhaps just need someone to optimize the server for you? I've personally seen optimization in work before. From load of 8 down to 3 with the right person doing the job.

    wp-supercache, and noatime...?

Either way, sounds like you would benefit from either getting a server management company or moving to a managed server.

I don't think that's the case - drop Scott at AdminGeekz an e-mail and I'm sure he can take care of it.

He's done numerous server transfers for us, some servers topping 100+ gig of live data and we've not had any downtime. They're not the cheapest out there, but they are the most professional and most reliable, by far.

I would have to agree with the rest here. You can get a third party to do the transfer for you without a problem. TSS and Servaxnet are good in my opinion.

Alternatively, plenty of providers will offer to migrate your sites from your old host to them.

Do you have a control panel on the current server like Cpanel, Directadmin or any other one?
Then it would be pretty easy to do the transfer.

I don't see why some hosting companies can't assist you with that, it should be offered by default

Wait a second it is cpanel on both servers, whats the big deal to do the transfer from one cpanel server to another? I am not sure anything could be simpler if you have root access to both.

I have used Liquidweb.com and Zoomvps.com in the past. Both where kind enough to move my site to the servers hosted with them. As others said, cpanel 2 cpanel is no big deal!
