    Which Terms and Conditions?

    Hello,

I'm starting a webhosting business (a reseller package) and I'm looking into adding some Terms & Conditions.

I have found a site with basic webhosting terms (http://www.website-contracts.co.uk/a..._standard.html) and a Premium webhosting terms (http://www.website-contracts.co.uk/a...s_premium.html)

The standard one says "As with our other hosting contracts, it is only suitable for use in relation to the provision of hosting services to businesses (as opposed to consumers). "
I want to sell to customers and individuals so does the above mean its not intended for that?

and the premium one says "This premium hosting terms and conditions template is suitable for use in relation to B2B web hosting services, where the document will form part of an online order process." What is B2B? Is this ok for me?

What would be more appropriate for a reseller of a hosting company?

    many thanks,

Simple.. Use your reseller provider's TOS. You can ask them for permission and I'm sure they will allow it. This will make sure your clients are within their terms as well.

Yes use your resellers TOS or simply do some checks on your own. Look around at other hosting TOS and develop your own TOS. Not saying copy anything word for word but TOS's across the board are very similiar. I bet you could whip up your own easily, with terms and phrases that don't lose people :-)

You may want to review those terms and see whether it applies to your business plan and target audience.

FYI some reseller providers also provide free legal documents to their clients so you may want to check with your provider on whether they will provide you with them.

Thanks for all of the replies.

I asked my host and they did say I could use theirs but my host (reseller) is from America and I am based in the UK so its making sure that it is ok for the UK (UK law, rather than US)

    This looks good:

But I am just wondering how different it would be seeing as I am in the UK? Any idea's?

    Or am I over-worrying?

    Thanks,

    Luke

Some things will be different since it is a different country with different laws, but I'm sure the basics still apply. You can make the changes yourself by doing some research or speaking with a lawyer in the UK.
