Possible to add IPMI or similar to "server" ?

Hi guys, I currently have a Asus desktop computer that i'm using as my home "server" for files and virtual machines. So this obviously doesn't have built in IPMI or anything. I would like to be able to remotely access the machine without the OS running AND be able to do things like remotely reinstall the OS from a remote .iso file or from remote cd drive as I have seen IPMI can do. I'm not familiar enough with server hardware, but is there a way to add an IPMI card or another solution to the motherboard that would allow these abilities?

You can get pci board controller card thingys, ipmi i think.
not sure what the requirements to use the cards are though.
I'll find a link for you, untill someone else turns up with an answer

Buying seperate KVM-over-IP solutions are rather expensive.
I suggest buying a new mainboard with IPMI with kvm-over-lan included.

The Supermicro series have it all onboard on the F-series, they are very nice and cost only 15-20 EUR more compared to the mainboards that don't support it - Online in no time
Dedicated Servers in [EU] Netherlands with DAILY support, also on weekends
DDOS Protected network - 100% Money Back if it doesn't work for you
Streaming / IPTV allowed | Up to 10 Gbit ports | 100% Network Uptime

But then he still is not able to reboot the machine remotely if ctrl-alt-del does not work (e.g. OS crashed), unless he buys a remote powerswitch as well.

Cheapest option might be to get a new mainboard with AMT (around 100 EUR) or IPMI (around 150 EUR).
