    Need a .us file server.

I am in the market for a .us dedi server with the following specs.

cpu: dual core, nothing particular needed.

    ram: 2gb should suffice.

hdd space: 10-15TB of space, if i can get 20 that would be even better.

port: atleast 250mbit, gigabit is nice, but expensive, but if i can get it so be it.

monthly transfer: probably 20TB max of 30.

Also need a hardware raid card.

budget: I'd like it under 500usd/mo. also don't say go to 100tb.com ect because their in europe, i got a europe server and am happy with it, plus 100tb has SMALL servers I need something with a lot more storage. I am willing to sign a yearly contract too if it lowers price.

as for network, something reliable with descent routing to most of north america, am not too concerned about latency as its not for gaming, just a good stable speedy network, thanks.

Have you checked offer section? WebNX offers servers in US with lots of storage space.

PS: 100tb offers storage servers with large HDDs.

    2 x 500GB not exactly what I would call a big server from 100tb.

They don't advertise all servers offered by them on their website. Its the same case of most web hosting companies. Best bet would be to contact them directly. We have a 16tb server with 100tb and I am sure they offer.

Well I sent both providers an email we'll see what they offer.

can you tell me what speeds are like from the .us side of 100tb within the usa, in your experience with your server.

you're looking for 20tb of space with 20tb of transfer?

  11. #11
well I am looking for at least 10tb of space, 15 would be better, I don't have to go as high as 20, and yes 15-20tb transfer on average.

I do have a 4U supermicro server with all the specs I need, perhaps I should look into colocation, would anyone have any suggestions on 20TB transfer, gigabit port in the states for under $500. Sorry if I am being a pain.

So since you are laughing at their prices, what sort of price range are you looking for in a 10TB stroage server?

I don't see how 100tb's pricing is any "ROFL" material.

Well when I emailed them I asked for something around $500 and the first reply I got was a $1200 server so that was the laughing part. As for percentile usage, I wish I knew, I could go by my eu servers 95 percentile but it has not been far enough into the month to really have an accurate reading, we have traffic spikes, but their very short lived usually, it seams were usually doing 30mbit outbound consistently.

    95 percentile usage 112.56 Mbits

That is the percentile of my current server, but just yesterday I moved 1.65TB of data off of the server and very fast speeds, something that may have effected that percentile I don't know, I wish I could see last months statistics for a more accurate number.

    95 percentile usage 112.56 Mbits
Total usage in bytes 1.52 TeraBytes
Avg per day usage in bytes 388.0 GigaBytes
    Expected in 2011-05 11.37 TeraBytes

1200 for 1Gbps unmetered INCLUDING the server is $1.2/megabit, which is very low pricing.
You should get your head around your realistic needs then before asking for providers for quotes than laughing them off.

the hardware specs alone that you need will raise your cost quite substantially.

But I did not ask for unmetered, and the server they offered was twice the size I needed, thus why I chuckled, sorry if it sounded insulting.

Perhaps try the cheaper ones? Hmmm... something like FDCServers? They are unmetered and etc. Should be good for you.
