    FDCServers Review

I got told by a friend that FDCServers did good dedicated servers for cheap prices.

I ordered their Server 1 Package, which offered a 500GB Hard Drive and 2GB ram. They had no Chicago in stock so I went with Denver.

I requested for them to set me RDNS on My IPs, they claimed they did this but no sign of working RDNS. I was told it was a problem at my end, but in the end I requested them to delegate the RDNS to me, of course, it worked fine.

A few days later, the server went offline. I don't think it was a memory issue since it was only running LAMP and an IRC daemon. So, I contacted support and they didn't help, they told me it must be a problem with my software. This happened again and again for a few days.

I was so sick of it, I just turned off LAMP and the IRC daemon and left it for a few days, again the server died. I didn't even bother asking for a refund, because I took a guess that it would be a no judging by the other reviews I have read here.

I suggest staying away from FDCServers.

    FDCServers - Positive Review

After being burned by several VPS providers, my partner and I decided we would stop throwing our money away on people who didn't know what they were doing, and settled on a dedicated server purchase. After doing a lot of searching, reading and comparing, we sent a presales inquiry to FDCServers, and found them to be a good match. We selected a customized configuration and made the purchase. That was over a year ago, and we haven't looked back.

We've had nothing but a great experience since we started with them. Their customer service, technical support, management, well, everyone we've dealt with period, have been nothing but courteous and professional. Last year, I found a special that featured a price that was $10 a month lower than what we were paying so I sent an email to them to see if we could receive the special, I figured the worst they could do was say no, but to our pleasant surprise, they didn't. We just couldn't be happier with our server or our support.

Your mileage may vary. For those who have said they've received poor customer service from FDC, I'd have to question how you approached them. We run an IRC server on our dedicated box, and haven't had any issues at all. They say you get what you pay for, and I have to say, it's worth every penny we've paid and then some! I'd proudly encourage my friends and business associates to purchase servers or service from FDCServers, and would sleep soundly doing so.

I also have very bad experience with FDCServers - network is slow, they blocked my server 2 times (reason DDoS, but it was my rsync, not "DDoS"). I think, they block servers, who use bandwidth.

Bad service, dont ever buy anything from them, uptime is barely one day, and they will blame it on you.

I am sad to hear that you have a problem. But what you describe, it's definitely not something that happens out there with everyone. Problems happen and you just need to work with the company to solve this.

We have had absolutely zero issues with FDC and I think their network overall is very good.

If you thought it was a hardware issue, did you run some tests on the server yourself to try and isolate the problem? Perhaps check the logs? Typically if you show some sort of proof that it is hardware, they will be happy to swap it for you.

I hosted with FDC in 2010 and left because of network issues. I was in their Denver datacenter also. Dropped packets, loss of connectivity. Happened quite often... maybe not weekly but at least a few times a month.

I have several servers there and elsewhere, and I have never really had issues other than a bad cable once.

fdc is/was the low-cost leader, and was the low-cost pioneer who permitted me and probably thousands of others to foray easily into areas without worrying about being killed by over-bandwidth charges.

They do what they do, and they do it very well.

    I second that.

Their client list in Chicago leaves something to be desired. Spammers, card bangers and DOS types. Their main office in NL does not respond to emails.

If you use their data center there I would expect your site to be immediately labeled a SPAM/THREAT site.
    Just my 2 cents.

Check their IP and then client list. All proxies and spam servers.

    Hi

Did you order a "full battery" of hardware tests? Then, if everything were ok, did you order an operative system reinstall? And if the problem continued, did you manage to figure the issue out?

FDC Servers, abdicar, and a lot of hosting companies works with the concept "self-managed", and that is why we keep our prices low.

With all your respect.., It could be fixed with few tickets between you and their support department.

Our host is blocking a DDOS attack as we speak coming from the FDC Servers. Also, we have numerous reports of non-responses for abuse from data center. We have received no responses since Friday to our abuse report. Just Google FDC Servers, Chicago. There is an education for you.

The only useless post is your own.

    Jenkins88,

FDC has a very good abuse department, I am sure they take care of all complaints.

Also, you wrote "Their main office in NL". What is it?

    Cancelling My Server here too

I am located in Chicago on a VDS. They arbitrarily took my VDS offline to migrate it to another machine. This move was planned, and they never notified me of it. I had to listen to a screaming customer that could have easily been avoided by a simple email to me the day before. Seeing as he had only been a customer for around six hours, he viewed it as my incompetence and I had to refund him so he could go else where.

On two previous attempts to host in Chicago with them, once I received a dedicated with a totally botched install (When you do this all day how can you install a server that isn't even capable of rebooting), and on another attempt another server was being DDoS'd so often my server couldn't even stay online for an hour solid.

Instead I get a response that they regularly take their customers offline during "off peak hours", when ever they feel like it, and that they have no SLA and stating that I have no specific up time expectations.

As for the 24/7 uptime, we provide no such statement on our website and offer no SLA for any services we offer.
If you are hosting anything important go else where.
