I prefer desktop simple reason being It's much quicker than a laptop and if it breaks it's much easier to fix, cos you'd have to screw the laptop apart etc to replace stuff! D: which is bad!

I personally prefer desktops. They all have an upgrade path. Laptops can only be upgraded with hard drive and memory as everything else tends to be hard-soldered into the pcb along with having somewhat custom pcb. Everything tends to be a waste of money. You get a high-spec laptop and it's worthless in a few years. Get a high-spec desktop and you have the ability to upgrade it in a few years.
I am mobile in my line of work and still prefer a desktop. Laptops come in handy but are not worth the investment. Get a cheap laptop, have a good internet connection and use remote desktop so that your desktop can be the workhorse while away.0

Desktop with huge monitors in the office, no doubt. Anyone who does alot of coding can appreciate. Road warrior laptop but never 24/7 use except for extended travel.

For word processing / gaming, I will definitely go with a desktop. Also the huge monitor is a bonus. I hate small screens! aka Laptop haha
For mobile computing, I like iPad =)0

Desktop mate, Laptops break easy, hard to upgrade without taking it apart, Desktops, never overheat (really) and can be upgraded easy

I prefer my laptop, easy to take everywhere great specs.
And really fast.
Never liked desktops, however i do have a apple tv and a spare tiger license so i may end up making a desktop from that .0

Both? Isn't it dependent on preference, you like to move a lot = laptop?
But one true thing is, a desktop definitely keeps you less distracted if you're doing work. Less likely to feel the urge to move or change your position. :-)0

Being an avid gamer, I built my own custom desktop and love it. I have to say I prefer desktops over laptops due to the pure customization and performance. Although you lose portability when choosing a desktop, it is the best if it doesn't need to be moved around.
Because of the fast growing technology, several specs in a computer will become outdated fairly quickly. Desktops allow for a quick and easy way to take apart and upgrade different components. Also, if running a lot of programs and high end applications, a desktop will be able to keep cool with the right cases and prevent overheating issues.0

I'm still in the desktop camp. There's something much more fluid about using a real keyboard and mouse. Especially if you're into programming/design, I find it extremely difficult to use a smaller keyboard and trackpad.. laptop wireless mouses just don't work the same either. + Desktops are much more powerful, with more screen real estate, while being cheaper = hands down winner

Desktop is always very nice for any user, far more customisable, however if you travel with business a laptop is likely the better way to go, therefore I consider both options decent, however there is also the option of a tablet.
