    Too many open files

    Hello,

I got this error on my apache error logs.
"accept() failed (23: Too many open files in system)"

    [email protected] [/etc/httpd/logs]# cat /proc/sys/fs/file-max
    500000

My apache is running as nobody. Although I increased file-max Im still getting that error.

    Hi

What system is this on ? Cpanel or Plesk ?

I have seen this on plesk and had to alter apache logging to piped (i think as it was a while ago)

Also how many sites do you have on the box ?

    Thanks

The above link should point you in the right direction. A few things need changed not just file-max.
