Thread: Samba mount

  1. #1

    Samba mount

Trying to follow instructions to create a samba mount for backups, but for some reason it doesn't seem to work.

    mkdir /backupdir

    mount -t cifs // -o username=user_name,password=xxxxxx /backupdir

Is there something wrong with these instructions from the service provider?

No, there is nothing wrong with those instructions.

To figure out why it isn't working, I would try the following:

    mount -t cifs // /backupdir --verbose -o user=user_name,pass=xxxxx

With the verbose option, you may be likely to get some feedback at the CLI that helps you understand where things are going wrong with establishing the connection.
