Do i need MS Sql Server 2008 standard or Web edition can do ?
Someone told me that Sql Server 2008 web and express are there also..
But i need to know difference comparable to standard (this one is expensive - yeh)
Please can some expert help me in detail
I need to go for a dedicated web hosting for windows...
Here is a comparison page
Web edition is good enough if your budget is limited.
PremiumReseller.com Hyper-V SSD VPS USA London Singapore
Reseller Hosting Cpanel PURE SSD CloudLinux Softaculous
Windows Reseller Asp.NET 4.5 MSSQL 2012 SmarterMail Enterprise
Web Edition doesn't have limitation on
- Don't pay for what you don't need!
- Create a great looking blog in minutes, with no technical skills required!
makes webhosting both easy and affordable.
How big DB size? if it is small one then you can go with MS SQL Express 2008 (save up to 4GB).
SQL Server Web Edition only allows anonymous database connections, which is perfect for most web server use. It is comparable in power to Standard Edition but lacks the ability to do any type of high availability except through log shipping. It's generally less expensive than other licensed editions.
SQL Server Standard Edition allows both named (Windows accounts using CALs) and anonymous connections. It also supports high availability through database mirroring and two-node failover clustering. It's more expensive than Web Edition.
Standard edition is the most common one for many hosting providers since it will meet the requirements for most projects. I think only few web hosting will provider web or express editions.
if you're going with a dedi or a vps and you need to buy the license, i would suggest sql web edition.
price is fair enough, and unless you don't need advanced features, that's more than enough.

You may try to get consultation from your programmer, if any. They knows better. Licensed MSSQL give you more privilege for sure.
