Hard DDos Attack, Where did my traffic go?

Well of course, i have to assume it was one of my competitors that did what my webmaster called a "Hard" attack (whatever that means).

Well after 2-3 days everything started to get back to normal except for my customers. Orders have been really scarce and using livezilla , I haven't seen anyone on my website all day! I use to have 3-4 people on all the time through out the day.

Did this effect my search rankings? Or is there something else that i am missing?

I'm not really good in SEO but I wonder how can that affect you SE status.
If there were no update you nothing to lose at all and how that might affect it?

It will affect your site rankings as your web pages will be offline when the search engine spiders try to access your site. However you should be back to your usual positions within a short time.

If there's high levels of packetloss to a domain, search engines will start to drop that listing. Especially if it's 100% packetloss and there's no longer any response from the website at all.

DDos attacks are a pain in the ass. The worst thing is, it is so easy for these attackers to build up their net and do it...
