It seems that a recent Windows update has caused this issue... not 100% sure but that's all I know right now based on this problem not being present with servers not restarted after the initial restart after being updated.
Basically our servers have ~40 IP's on each on the network card, but now only the first primary IP works with ANYTHING. Router reports "Destination host unreachable." in tracerts to secondary IP's, so something isn't happening that needs to.
If you can help me get this fixed ASAP, the payment is $1000 because this is a huge problem. Please PM me your MSN or gtalk.
We tried an fresh OS reload on an empty server and the issue is also present there... it seems like servers that were restarted after a certain point in time have this issue. We've contacted the colo provider to see if it could be something on their end, but if anyone has any ideas I'll still be happy to pay you for your time -- just let me know.
Call Microsoft directly and report it. If it is truly a new bug they won't charge you. If you got it on a fresh install it sounds like a true OS bug.
A few questions though:
- What version of the OS is it?
- On the fresh install how many ip's did you add?
- On the old server it worked fine until a windows update?
- How many network cards?
- Firewall in place? If so which one?
Glad you got it resolved, and too bad I didn't see the post sooner
