I agree with the majority. Ranking in serps is way more important and can bring more benefits. You should definitely focus on ranking well in result pages for specific keywords.
I am saying this because PR is just a number given to a web page by Google. It is only one of the many (around 200 if I'm not mistaken) factors used by Google to rank websites in its result pages.
Ranking well means good traffic. The more the traffic the better. Visibility increase, awareness increase, popularity increase, sales increase.
Solely a high PR without a good ranking in serps won't really help you in anything. On the other hand, there are lots of sites with a low PR that rank higher in result pages than some sites with high PR. Do the math...
You can see Google is not giving importance to PR.They are not updating PR from last couple of months. They want to provide better results for their users. So I would like to say,we should do work to get high rank for keywords if we have to grow our online business.
Definitely keyword ranking. PR will increase as a result of good seo works and is only a part of the algorithm google uses. Focus on good seo works, including keyword ranking and pr will follow naturally.

There is no point in ranking your website high without having considerable number of visitors to your page. It is all about getting SERP for the required keywords. With social network marketing you can easily pull lots of traffic to the site without worrying about the page rank.
However, increase in traffic doesn't guarantee the improvised page rank. Good high ranking backlinks are required to improve the page rank of the website.
I agree with anyone else here - ranking higher in SERPS for relevant keywords or keyword phrases trumps high PR for driving business.
