    Facebooks first servers ?

    Hi,

    Does anyone know who hosted facebooks first servers ?
    And what were its specs ?

    I read "Accidental Billionaires" but o info in that book.
    Google search also not being that helpful.

    Didnt you watch the film?
    They were first self-hosted.

    Actually, that's where the first bit of money came into, they were not 'self hosted', as that's what got them in trouble with their first 'project' (if the film is in any way accurate there).

    Facemash was on his laptop.
    Facebook was on servers, thats why he needed money from Eduardo.
    Also in the film he had said that they would have to rent more Linux servers which would cost $150 - $200 and stuff.
    So just wondering which datacenter was it ?

    Good point, probably one of the huge ones now, I bet the locked FB into some crazy contracts.

    And trust me the film is more realistic than you could imagine, even the wording from the blogs was exact.

    So which DC was it ? I cant seem to find it no matter what.

    Facemash was on his laptop. They were on Harvard servers which brought down the servers and it took them 4 hours to find the culprit who brought the servers crashing down.

    Also in the film he had said that they would have to rent more Linux servers which would cost $150 - $200 and stuff. It was not for more servers however so it could handle the traffic, load ballencing I believe it was
