So far I have used reseller and VPS, dedicated servers etc. A client has a special requirement, can anybody suggest me what type (cloud??) hosting is required for this case.
a customer is looking for a server for their internal operations. Server should be excellent configuration to provide high speed access and storage I/O.
This is an engineering company and data size shall be 2 Terra bytes. Employee who are placed globally will access the files.
Initially it will be a file server with login based access privileges for their data. The server should be robust with 24x7 system admin support and backup / restoration facility. Data consists of word/pdf/excel/PPT/txt/MPP and engineering drawings. Application consist of MSOffice, Microsoft Project, MS Exchange and AutoCAD or similar s/w.
I am looking for a managed hosting, will appreciate suggestions as well as recommendations.
I hope I have pasted this to the right category (Managed Hosting and Services ) Mods, sorry if it is not. Wld appreciate if you could move it to the right category.
Oh, yes, that is another thing, I have (and the client too) no idea of the budget. I am guessing it has to be more or around medium to hi-end dedicated server right?? I am not looking for cheapest deal at all. I am looking for a provider with a reputation and track record.
No specific geographic requirement as such but shd be in a place where people all across globe shd be able to access easily. (US, Europe?)
If you are looking into have good access around the world I would recommend getting a server in one of the major internet exchanges such as NAP of the Americas, 60 Hudson Street, or 1 Wilshire which are located in the US. In London their is Telehouse. These buildings are generally more expensive to host in but they are very well interconnected. I have worked with Newservers which operates out of the NAP of the Americas and I would highly recommend them although if you need more access in Europe one of the other locations might be better.
