I am need of a cheap Linux host that does not suck for a small fleet of ethical Wordpress auto-blogs. My current host Santrex takes days to respond to support tickets, lets my sites crash frequently, and ruined what could have been an effective press release marketing campaign by blocking emails sent to lists of a few hundred or more addresses.
I am looking for the following in a Linux host:
- Not more than $15 a month
- Unmetered bandwidth
- Mailing list support of up to 10,000 addresses per list
- OFFSHORE JURISDICTION
- 24 hour technical support
- 99% up time
- Chron job access
- Average ticket response time of less than 2 hours.
Those requirements are just my ideal ones. For instance the autoblogs are new and the last place I hosted my email lists was a shared Windows hosting service for which I had an email list of just under 5,000 addresses plus others of similar size. The email was never an issue, but I was limited in therms of bandwidth.
I do have VPS for ASP.Net stuff, but because my auto-blogs need a cron job I can't use the VPS for that. I also don't want to use it for email lists because Plesk does not allow advanced features like moderation.
I don't anticipate a whole lot of traffic, so a shared host with a bandwidth limit and no issues regarding email lists is just fine. I could always divide up the lists into smaller ones if I have to.
KoDDos doesn't look too bad. My main concerns right now are getting the news blogs operational and sending out announcements for a couple of new services.
The reason want a VPS is because I don't see the news blogs getting a whole lot of traffic anytime soon, so even if I a low bandwidth limit that is not a big deal nor is the uptime right now. I really just want reliable email and people who won't take forever to answer a question.
As for the pricing I figure if the last place I used for email was $15 a month plus $3 per domain for Windows than $10 to $15 should be reasonable for Linux since systems requirements for ASP.Net and SQL Server exceeds that for PHP and MySQL.
What do you guys know about Fat Pig Host or Root Panama?

In my opinion your suggestion is in average. You can still find hosts like that. Try to find a small web hosting business. They have less clients and there you could have the assurance of response to your concerns quickly.
I would suggest that you look into companies like bechmarkemail for sending such a massive amount of e-mails. They'll also give you some quite nice statistics on your mails which can be very useful in e-mail marketing.
