Shell Access and Cron Jobs
I'm trying to restrict access to shell, but have some sites that run regular cron jobs using curl. Is shell access still required to run a cron job such as this. If so, can I get away with restricting it to jail shell? Any guidance is appreciated.

If you are using WHM, try to edit the package and deselect/uncheck Shell Access.

You do not need shell access to run scripts. As long as they user has access to use crontab. Like other have said in Cpanel you can turn this off. I have used several other control panels where you can turn it off as well. Cpanel, Interworx, Hspere to name a few.
