    Chat software

    Hey WHT users.

These past few month iwe been setting up a small hosting company, its growing and i wanted to add a chat to our site. NOT a ticket chat like the regular ones.

But a fully fledged chat system with guest access for presale questions and support.

Some of the most important features are listed here:

    1:
User names should become avaliable to new guests as soon as the guest with XXX name logs out. Real time. No cron 2 times a day deleting guest user names.

    2:
Proper moderation. Users should not have to press f5 before the deleted messages in the chat are deleted.

3: Independent signup for the chat or phpBB3 integrated (forums run on that)

Iwe been looking into Blab, but it does not deliver on the needs mentioned above. Also irc,but thats too much work. Im willing to buy any software to offer this service.

Any ideas what software that would work ? experiences etc would be much appriciated.

    Wak

I personally like Mibew a lot, it has a lot of features you might expect from a paid chat software, it has a nice interface and it is free.

Thx for the links. Sadly all of them are support chats. As stated in the first post its not what i need. It needs to be a full chat system with rooms etc. Not one on one chats. Its a way to allow customers to chat together so i can do other things as well.

If your looking for what I think your looking for then something like OpenFire with FastPath web chat would be what you are looking for! A quick search on Google should yield th results needed!

    Cheers

Yes and OpenFire can also be used on top of that as a very nice employee collaboration suite.

This is just what i need, just in a paid more advanced version.

Thanks everybody. Livezilla and liveperson is still support chats with one on one chats.

OpenFire with FastPath web chat looks good, but not the easiest solution around i guess.

Yea, LiveZilla is also good, but I'm not sure that it will have features, what he is looking for.

Thx for the link, but the same as livezilla etc.

Livezilla is the best one out there for free. But it seems your looking for a group chat sort of thing, I would go with Ajax chat.

I'm a huge fan of Live-Zilla. Theres no client-side branding at all.

the OP is NOT looking for live chat apps eg. livezilla comm100.

They are looking for a chat room style solution.

  28. #28
We use comm100 its open source, fast, mobile support too!
You should try them! Its hosted on their own data centers and don't need to host on our servers!

    Hey,

If you need a little help installing OpenFire let me know, I could definitely help you out!

    Cheers

By far, liveperson is the best but it is a bit expesnsive at 100$ a month. Livezilla almost does just as much but obviously dumbed down for free.

We have looked into this and searched quite a few places. Livezilla is what we ended up going with and there has been no complaints or regrets. Yes I know it does not offer the chat room style originally mentioned but maybe its better to start with this until you find the magic solution. seems like lots of people are saying their name...

It is the first probe and stayed with him. Very good.

I tried the demo for providesupport, and I must say, it does look great. I hope to look more into their system, but from what I have seen, they do look like they own a great live chat system.
