    Domain renewal CON companies..

    Hi guys,

Every year, I get 10+ letters through the door saying my domains will expire if i dont send money to certain companies to renew.
( ) is one such company.

Whats funny is that my domains are handled by a different company and they auto renew and auto bill me.

How on earth can these con-companies get away with sending random bills to people?

Its like me sending a water bill to everyone around here in hope someone pays up?

Perhaps they are hoping you will use them instead sort of like guerrilla market, pretty tacky. It is all part of the name of owning domains. Ive been fortanute to only get 1 a year. It is also possible that the domain registrar contracts with them so they can make more on renewal by transferring to a sub-division once the customer is in the door. "Don't know".

    Either way, just ignore them.

Quite simply they send them out, and some poor unsuspecting person pays the bill as it looks official...

Unfortunately it happens a lot. Its interesting as I have just had one through the post this morning from said company. Its well worded as well, as I see they have possibly had to change the wording like "this notice is not a bill" etc..etc.

Unfortunately unsuspecting customers do pay these prices as they do look official, and really pay over the odds as well.

One of these scammers really helped me out once.
If they didn't try to sell me an expired domain that I was interested in then I probably wouldn't of noticed that it had become available.

Despite their claim they hadn't registered the domain so I was able to register it myself, without paying them a cent. Scammers can work in your favour
I could tell you a joke about UDP. But I'm not sure you would get it!
