this is basically what one sysadmin said from 24x7servermanagement.com
These name servers are created on 77.79.xx.xx server so you can use it only for the domains hosted on this server. If you use these name server for the websites which are not located on this server then the websites will not work.
If you assign any nameserver on 77.79.xx.xx to the different server domain like mydomain.com then you will not be able to see http://mydomain.com
but i have known that example domain registra allow their own customer to use thbeir name server and theres million of domains using just that nameserver. My intention is to let my friend to use my nameserver aswell. the question is him adding my nameserver on the server and on his domain registrar is enough?
then why is it that namecheap offer nameserves that seem to work when they aint using the namecheap hosting acccount, anyone ncan freely operate their own server and still be able to use the namecheap nameserver.
my friend also was able to allow me to use his nameserver before. and he was usingf his own server while i used my own. intodns didnt complain at all
Since you will be using some other IP address than yours it might be easier to create and edit the zone with webmin. It has a great interface for BIND. Just look at some of the zones that directadmin has created and use them as a guide, substituting your friend's IP address of course.
