Looking for a cheap host that will allow FTP uploads from my security cam
Hey Guys! I'm currently with KnownHost and pay about $11 a month. I have my Panasonic IP Cam uploading images via FTP whenever it detects movement. It puts them in a folder which is also accesible to the web that runs a PHP script so I can view them from any web browser in a gallery format. I have a cronjob running once a week that clears out all the images. In a weeks time it uploads about 20,000 images.
I'd like to find another host with more space than KnownHost (5GB) and was set on Site5 but there is a lot of verbage in their TOS that prohibit using your account for file storage. I need something that can serve web pages and doesn't prohibit private file storage.
Thanks for any suggestions!

Dreamhost!
Configure it as a public page with a password (though check their terms re: storage) and roll. Should be within their restrictions.

Funny that I even considered Site5. Apparently I was with them 6 years ago and had a horrible experience. http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=471401
I did a Sales Chat with DreamHost and asked about the requirements in my original post...
"Ian: Afraid that's not allowed through us either. You'll most likely want to look into a dedicated host"
Any other suggestions?

You should probably just go for a small VPS. Do you need cPanel?

No -- you won't find a VPS with cPanel for $10/m

The cPanel license alone is something like $12/month so you would basically need to find a free VPS to run it on in order to stay within your budget I don't see a huge problem with any type of file storage, I would imagine most hosts wouldn't mind either. Just do your homework and make sure you get on a plan with generous bandwidth for your FTP needs.

I would advise to increase your budget or rather cut down your storage. As per your requirements, you can find a vps with disk space of 50 GB at servint.net Essential VPS. there is also a prmotional code available for 50% off for first month. contact their sales.
here is a link i found in wht offers section:

I think I will go with a Reseller Account. I haven't been hassled by KnownHost at all with my current setup.

I suppose small VPS will work much better in this situation. You will be limited within your VPS and will able to do whatever you need in those limits.

Guess a VPS will be better for you to have.

Since these images are viewed from your web page in a gallery, how is that not part of your website and considered file storage? How would this violate ant TOS?
