    Exclamation Slingbox

Anyone got one? How are they?

I'm looking at a Slingbox Pro.

Not sure what a sling box is so I can't even comment. If your talking about a slingshot, I had one when I was young and they are a lot of fun, Just kidding. .

I want something like a slingbox, if not a slingbox.

    www.slingbox.com

Trying to figure out whether a Roku would work too.. I want it to be a passthrough also.. as in, cable box -> device -> tv so the tv still works.

Have one here - it's great. Very useful when I'm traveling, stuck in an airport, etc... just like being in front of the DVR at home.

Sirius, how does available bandwidth impact it? e.g. If you're at the airport on a semi-slow connection?

Where did you buy it, and what was the cost? (If I may ask!)

I got it used on Ebay for $122.50.

I got the solo though, not the pro. I do wish I got the pro-hd, though, as the quality for this is decent, but HD would be so much better.

Sorry, didn't see this until now.

On slower connections, it will take a bit to cache the video, but then it will look fine. You might see some occasional artifact, but not too bad.

Real world example, I was in Boston and staying at a Hyatt. The wireless connection in the hotel room was very off and on. I fired up my trusty AT&T 3G card and although it was a bit rough at first, once it found the right speed/settings, I was able to watch the entire UFC PPV from the comfort of my laptop.

Picture quality any good? I must say they do a really bad job of marketing this device. I have never seen it in demo.

Word of mouth sells them. I see them for sale in all the local electronics stores, often in displays.

The HD model is supposedly kick ass.
