There are many good Web hosting companies. What sort of Web site will you be running? Are you looking for something based in the United States? Will this be a start-up or are you currently hosted with a provider? If you already have a site, do you have any idea how much disk space and bandwidth you are using?
There are hundreds of providers capable of supporting you. Here's my recommendation: make a list of providers that you are interested in and thoroughly research them via the search function at WHT. I can't stress this enough -- too many people fail to do their research and end up regretting it in the end.

Reason: Needed to add something
Every hosting company has its good and bad reviews. There is nothing like a 'perfect hosting company'. You need to specify what kind of a website you are planning to host and what are your requirements in terms of bandwidth. Is it a web application or a normal website?
Web hosting companies can be tricky to understand what they do, how they work and if they are really what you need. I would say it is important to read these forums, and also just check out different hosts on your own. Getting other users input will help lead you in a direction but that doesn't always mean it is the right direction.
I think someone already asked what you need hosted. That is something you should already know, but also should know the requirements needed to host it. Honestly, most hosts are going to say they can do it and they are best host for your site, which is fine. If you know what you need you should be able to ask different hosts on their sites, check out their forums if you can and see whats going on there. Also use google when you find a few hosts you like and just google them to see what you find. Research is helpful and important in my opinion.
