Purpose Of MYI in MySQL
Anyone can please explain me the purpose of .MYI file in a MySQL database .
1.) This is the wrong forum. You're looking for Hosting Security and Technology.
2.) Please learn to Google. I found this in 5 seconds of googling.
FYI, the query I used is "mysql myi".
Sorry for placing it at the wrong part . But thanks for your link . Thats the purpose of MYI in The MyISAM Storage Engine and what about its purpose in The InnoDB Storage Engine ??
MYI should not be created when InnoDB is used.

But The database engine on the server is InnoDB and the MySQL database has , .frm , .myi and .myd files .
Even if you use InnoDB for everything else, MySQL still creates its internal 'mysql' system database using the MyISAM storage engine, hence the reason you still see .myi and .myd files for it.
MySQL requires MyISAM for its system database:

Do not convert MySQL system tables in the 'mysql' database from MyISAM to InnoDB tables! This is an unsupported operation. If you do this, MySQL does not restart until you restore the old system tables from a backup or re-generate them with the mysql_install_db script.
