Arrow Looking for the highest quality server management company

    Hello,

I am looking for the very best server management company out there.

    We have the following requirements:

    • 20 servers to monitor
    • Company needs to be 100% US based with all US based employees
    • Continuous optimization of all server software and analysis of all server logs
    • Monitoring of our servers, all metrics possible
    • Security of our data on our servers - employees of the management company should not be allowed to download data from our servers
    • The company needs to have many employees on, no matter what the time is, it shouldn't be just one person working during the day and night
    • Fast reaction to tickets
    • Continuous security audit
    • Custom server software setup

Law firms charge $350 per hour, but they are always willing to work and are constantly interested to solve even small problems. With sysadmins, they charge less, but often reluctant to do anything proactively - is there any company that does proactive server management and monitoring?

    Thanks,

    Andrew.

    Hi

Best bet is to hire a sysadmin, dedicated to you if you need this level of detail. most server managment companies will do some of what you ask but not all.

    Good luck with the search.

Andrew, what OS are your servers running?
    Any control panels?

    TotalServerSolutions - $99 /mo

rackAID has their first plan starting at $150 /mo. Not sure of their other plans.

TouchSupport - I used their $44.99/mo plan. From personal experience they are great.

But in all honesty, you might want to get administration, plus get a monitoring package that would send an email the minute a service goes down. Something like Pingdom.

Or perhaps try Guardian by 1H, it self-heals problem services.

That's ignoring all the other stuff you need like optimisation, security audits, etc etc.

I suppose if you're prepared to pay, you could definitely get what you're looking for.

    Hi Terman,

Are you looking to keep the servers hosted where they are now, and require an outside management company?

Or are you open to the idea of moving the servers to a new hosting provider, perhaps one that provides both managed service and dedicated servers all in one place.

If you're running a *nix based operating system, then http://www.rack911.com without a doubt. They are your go to company for real systems administration.

Believe there is only Steve at Rack911? However, he has solved every problem I have sent his way and is good to work with.

To OP: It is common to want "many employees" "around the clock" however I believe once you find a suitable sysadmin there will be absolutely no need for around the clock employees. A proactively managed server won't be coming offline at 3AM unexpectedly, and of course monitoring would be setup. It's more cost effective to wake up an admin one or twice a year than to have admins "online" around the clock. A competent admin will be configuring the servers for best performance, and identify any servers that are prone to outages due to spec etc so that they can be upgraded accordingly.

I totally agree to go with BobCares.com

They are 1 of the best in the market. If you're talking about having non-india people managing your servers.

Sorry not being racial or anything, just an opinion.
