    Drive problems

Hi, I've just joined this forum though I've been an anonymous reader for years.

My cloud host has just fixed some downtime; upon checking the logs, I've noticed that they've run an FSCK, and fixed some orphaned inodes on my disk.

My problem is that, in my experience, orphaned inodes are hardware issues which can only happen to non-cloud servers, so in a sense I'm quite upset if I was sold a standard single-server hosting while I've been paying for cloud pricing.

I've tried googling about orphaned inodes, and have not found any conclusive information. Does anyone know enough to help me out here?

It depends on the set up. inodes are a filesystem thing. Every disk (even virtual) that has a filesystem has inodes.
