I am facing overload problem on my VPS subscribe at MochHost. I am running Centos with Cpanel and also running Shoutcast Management Interface 0.3.4 (SMI) but off all port for this moment and CentovaCast for 1 account at 100 slot/listener.
Root emailed me with this message:
IMPORTANT: Do not ignore this email.
This is cPanel stats runner on vps.theradiocast.com!
While processing the log files for user theradio, the cpu has been
maxed out for more than a 6 hour period. The current load/uptime line on the server at the time of
this email is
02:11:14 up 1 day, 4:22, 0 users, load average: 3.70, 3.28, 3.10
You should check the server to see why the load is so high and take
steps to lower the load. If you want stats to continue to run even with a high load; Edit
/var/cpanel/cpanel.config and change extracpus to a number larger then 0 (run
/usr/local/cpanel/startup afterwards to pickup the changes).
I have no idea what to do to prevent this overload.
Do you have any listeners? ShoutCast and IceCast are extremely lightweight and efficient. Theyr impact on CPU is small, but if you have solid listeners number it may drastically get high. Please provide detailed VPS specification.
you have 5 person listen station and cpu load is 3.70, 3.28, 3.10? That is too much for 5 person. I have vps with 512 ram and about 20-30 person who listen station and i don't big cpu load...So try to change provider maybe they oversell
