    Asterisk on a VPS?

I've done it before, but I'm looking for a provider that can do it. I forget which setup it won't work on. I think it was xen based vps ones.

Anyway, if anyone can recommend a VPS that I can run Asterisk off, that'd be nice.

I'm not using this for pushing tons of calls, just something to get started with.

It can work on almost any VPS, but on OpenVZ you will not be able to make conference calls (because you don't have zapata/ztdummy module).

You can actually load those modules pretty easily for your VEs.

Do you have more information on this? I'm running a Xen-based VPS with the Linode kernel and would rather load the required modules manually than run the EC2 Kernel image via Grub.

True, however they have to be present at the node level, and they are not included by default with the default openvz kernels. So someone has to add/compile them manually and i guess most hosts don't do this.
We don't do it anyway Not because we don't know how to compile modules, but because it is something that has not received as much testing as the rest of the ovz features, and as such is seen as a possible stability risk.

Asterisk works perfectly with Xen HVM or Xen PV PyGrub mode.
