    IOPS limit for users/vm's on a box

    Hey guys

    Im considering going into some VPS hosting but im afraid of users killing the boxes.. Are there any efficient ways to limit io from users/vm's ?

    Im thinking of running xen/openvz..

    Any advice is apreciated

    just a note, im not trying to limit the bandwidth usage of the discs, but rather the number of iops..

    The only real way i'v been able to find through google seems to be limiting it through bw..

    Don't use OpenVZ / Virtuzzo, especially if you're new to this.

    With XEN / KVM / VMWare each VM is limited to what you set so if one of the XEN's try and use up more RAM than specified (memory leak, or overload) then the whole server doesn't get affected (apart from disk IO).

    Use RAID 10 (with SAS / SSD if possible) for high IO, quad core / 2x Quad Core CPU's, FBECC RAM and you're well on your way
