I'm working with a small internal team in multiple locations on a project and am after a SharePoint host help support an internal site.
My requirements are:
1) Affordable. I'm looking for reliable, but not top-end per se.
2) 1 to 2 GB of storage to start, but easily scalable if need be.
3) Ideally supports the latest version of SharePoint and supports all of the funtionality found within SharePoint.
To be honest, I'm not 100% sure what the norm is, so I'm flexible.
Maybe someone can help me understand the setup of SharePoint. From what I've gathered, there appear to be some straight-up SharePoint hosts out there with minimal storage for your sharepoint site, is that correct?
Since it's a MS technology, I assume you need a Windows hosting environment to support it along with SQL server. If you have a straight-up "normal" windows host, are you able to install SharePoint on those types of hosts? Is the software available via the hosts typically, or must one go out and buy licenses?
I suppose I could really use some education on the proper of "how to setup and install a sharepoint site." Again, this isn't a public facing site, I'm after a user controlled document hub and project artifact center so we can have a central repository for all of our documents.
