    Thumbs up CNAME

    Hey guys,

    What is a cname? and how is it useful?

    Think of it as an alias to an A record...

    So if you had.

    A record WWW ->

    You could have
    Cnames pointing to WWW

    So rather than updating a whole bunch of A records when an IP changes.. You would just update the one A records and that would update the Cnames as that points to the A record..

    Yes, if you move the host to a new IP address, you would only have to change one record instead of all if you use the CNAME approach.
