uk2.net 20 months review
We have been a customer of uk2.net for 20 months. After we solved a recent server issue, we think it's necessary to post a review.
First, please let us say "Thank you" to uk2.net. We started our hosting business by being their reseller. At the first three months everything was well(or we should say perfect), we successfully got many customers.
Then issues occurred one by one as their server was overloaded. MySQL was unstable. The server even totally crashed more than twice.
The Christmas holiday in 2009 is the worst we have had. More than half of our customers php scripts couldn't run well suddenly. We submitted many tickets but they told us there was no issue with the server, they though it was caused by our customers' wrong coded scripts. But they were using different scripts! No modifications!
After a few days, they even found their server was hacked.
We finally decided to upgrade to a dedicated server. But it was in Christmas holiday, no sales staff available. We had to wait. Fortunately, only a few customers left us and the others said they liked our support and were willing to wait for a few more days.
We got a dedicated server from uk2.net at Jan 15, 2010. They told us the server was new. At most of time the server is running well. UK2 also has a good network performance.
But we are still not satisfied with them because:
* The server crashed three times because of disk hardware failures.
* Last year we couldn't access the server for a long time twice. The first time was because they made a mistake when doing network maintenance. We hadn't gotten any notice about that maintenance. The second was caused by an issue of the switch.
* One of my ips was stolen by another server, one of my ips was pointed to another server because of their mistake.
None of the issues the server has had were caused by ourselves. Luckily, there was only a few issues occurred.
Their staffs are always kindly but not much helpful sometimes. They can respond in a few minutes but mostly they respond after a few hours(6 hours sometimes!).
We've decided not to add any more servers at uk2.net.

Sorry to hear about your problems! Possibly they use cheap hardware to keep prices down.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts in a detailed manner. Sorry to hear that there were issues with them here and there. Did you try to inform these troubles to their management ?
