New Company

I am looking into making a web hosting buisness and I was wondering about some things.
1. Bandwidth, I have herd about different types, which is better?
2. Paypal, Is this a good type of payment accepter or does it make you look like you are new/cheap?
3. What is a good type of billing program or something to keep track of your customers?

If anybody can help me on this please let me know.

search the forums and a good place to also look is "Running a Hosting Business"

Paypal has actually gotten pretty good with subscriptions and adding options, etc.. , but using it as your primary monetary transaction method won't make you look professional.

However in the old days, we worked with mailed checks for a long time without trouble.

Hostcharge is pretty good for startups too.. and doesn't look like your'e that "young".

PerlBill , ModenBill, Inovaware Prism, and a host of other things.

Bandwidth has only one type, for detailed info look what my supplier is saying about it at :
http://www.peer1.net/en/faq/faq.html

For Paypal search this forum as we use paysystems.com for credit cards and are very satisfied.

As for a good billing software, we could not find one that would provide our requirements so we build our own and it's available to our resellers, it's designed by webmasters for webmasters.

Give it a try (demo) and give me some feedback.
Detailed billing

Regards,

Running a biz

For bandwidth the only thing people seem to really vetch about is Cogent bandwidth, as long as it's not Cogent that's the main thing.

People like to see Verio, Att, but really shop around get a good price, ask about connection and speed, ask for help doing tests if you want to.

For payment, that's a good one. Some people use 2checkout.com some people use paysystems and swear by them, but there are also threads right now swearing them off. I suggest paypal as a back up and one other merchant to make you look proffesional, but when they go down, ya got your paypal back up.

Lastly ...

Lastly ...Modernbill phpmanager-you can do automatic account set up with them, and the price is really good, but if you can afford more as a start up then i have heard that modern bill is great.

Let me stress this again. Go over the threads and do a search for payment processors, make up your own mind, there are as many theards for and against as there are recommending.

That's about it, hope that helps.
