Multiple Domain Name Servers
Hello! Pardon me if this is in the wrong section.
I am very new in domain and web hosting world. I had a simple question and I have different people telling me different things so not sure ...
Is it possible to have different company name servers on a domain? For example my current Web Hosting Company A has ns1.companyA.com & ns2.companyA.com and the New XYZ Company has ns0.xyzcompany.com and ns1.xyzcompany.com. Now on my domain control panel for name server can I add all 4 of them? Both hosting companies will have website files.
The issue is...I am transition to a different hosting company to avoid downtime for replication is it possible to add the new NS servers in advance so after 72 hours I remove ns1/ns2.companyA.com.
I was thinking of setting the name servers in this format on the domain control panel.
Current Host: ns1.companyA.com
New Host: ns0.xyzcompany.com
Current Host: ns2.companyA.com
New Host: ns1.xyzcompany.com
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for your help

I suggest you to move your data first from your old host to the new one, and then change the nameserver, if everything is set OK on the new account you shouldn't face any downtime if you don't cancel the old hosting account immediately after change the nameservers

First of all YES its possible, do it all the time for clients.
Second, make sure all data is copied over to the new server,
run them both at the same time and them change the IPS on the nameservers to the new server.
For a while specific parts of the internet will see different servers but the sites will remain up. And then in 72 hours cut the cordWEBCS.com - WEBster Computing Services

What your trying to do really is not necessary. I would recommend the following:
1). Upload your files to new host.
2). Change your NS settings to reflect your new host.
As long as the old host is still running your site, It will always be visible until propagation completes. Some people will see the old site, and some the new for the first 24 - 48 hrs.WHMEasyBackup.com - Take Control Of Your Backups!
