Zimbra Spam Filter
I've got a 5 Pack of Zimbra email accounts over at hostprogressive. However I have a horrible time with spam in my inbox. Now I've tried the recommended solution of logging into the webmail client and just clicking the "spam" button to try and train the system. But no matter how many times I do it absolutely no spam is caught and removed.
So I'm wondering if there's a service part of Zimbra, or something additional I can have the mail route through before it hits Zimbra to filter out spam.

You could use a 3rd party spam filtering service (like Postini), but all of the ones I am aware of cost additional money.
I'm not sure what HostProgressive is using - if they are using the internal Zimbra spam filter that is built in or if they have additional software or an appliance that they use. I know most Zimbra providers use 3rd party spam filtering utilities, or have customized the built in ones. The default spam filters are junk (no pun intended), and we have had to customize them quite a bit.
Have you opened a request with them to see if there is anything they can do to improve the filtering?█ 01 Networks / Hosting and Consulting Services

You can also view the raw message headers to see if they are doing any spam filtering at all.

Postini is good. I have it set up for my Zimbra customers, but I have it set up such that they don't even know Postini is being used. It's set up such that it tags the messages and forwards them on, and then I tweaked the Zimbra spam filters to recognize whether or not Postini reported it as Spam. That way the users can manage their allow/deny lists within Zimbra preferences without having to deal with Postini. They seem to offer near perfect spam protection for us.
I hope it works for you!█ 01 Networks / Hosting and Consulting Services
