Typos...that aren't.
I realize that English is not everyone's first language. That excuses many grammatical errors people make. However, when people use a different homophone than the word they mean, it gets pretty funny.
Here's one that I saw just seconds ago which prompted this thread.
through = threw

Lol. Its because half the people on this site should be paying attention during English class instead of thinking of how rich they are going to get off of selling webhosting.

That's the kind of mistake that plenty of native English speakers make, too.

Funny this thread was made. While browsing Facebook earlier, I was pretty appalled by some of the statuses and comments.
"Damn i kno ..but they playin st8 silly" (In response to NCAA March Madness discussion)
"Kaci?! U loose ur phone I txt u the other day and no response..."
Etc.
Keep in mind, these are peers that I graduated High School with. We're all 22, 23, or older. u kno wut i meen?[ IncogNET LLC ] Privacy By Design [Liberty Lake, WA][Kansas City, MO][Allentown, PA][Naaldwijk, NL]

Another one that makes me angry is...
affect = effect
It's not even a homophone error!

Those aren't typo -- those are grammar/spelling errors.

Writing mistakes may be more frequent on WHT - and on hosts' web sites - for three reasons that come readily to mind:
- there are many hosts whose native language is not English
- there are many hosts whose native language is PHP Code:
code
- there are many hosts who are young, often still in school
There are probably other reasons, too.
On the low end of the market, it probably doesn't matter all that much. I would expect higher-end hosts to make sure that the text on their sites, and in their help tickets, and their sales communications, etc. etc. is close to perfect.
I know, it doesn't hurt to expect...

...As should even the smallest start-up. Everyone ... Double check your spelling and grammar. If English is not your first language but you are targeting English speaking clients, make sure your content is right. Have someone else proof-read your content before posting it.
Communication is "number one" in business. If you cannot effectively communicate what you are selling and why someone should buy it, then you will not excel.☆☆☆ Cool Domain Names - DomainSale.link☆☆☆

Alot bugs me most when it is used in the context of A LOT.

It really bothers me when people don't take the extra 2 seconds to make sure what they're typing is correct. Or at least proper English. Unfortunately this happens when people speak, as well. For example, it's not "mischievious," it's "mischievous." There is no I at the end of the word. Why do people always pronounce it like there is one?

My personal pet peeve is when people throw in apostrophes where they don't belong, and skip them where they're needed, like so:
the site has outgrown it's serverits been a long time

Another thing that sometimes makes me angry is the word 'anyway'. I've only had my usage correct both in writing and speech for no more than a few years, but it still makes me cringe when other people use it incorrectly.
'Anyways' - It's not a word.
