I will choose XEN, it is more widely popular nowdays and is preferred by clients.
XEN has alot of features as PPTP and run some special scripts, you also get dedicated RAM if you don't use the ballon function in XEN.
Ballon function is like to oversell in XEN VPS - http://www.lowendbox.com/blog/how-to...elling-memory/

Some developers KVM to due to the nature because like the traditional way, they prefer because some applications only suitable KVM.

OpenVZ is decreasing and ok in terms of review and people experience. OpenVZ is still updated everytime but it is not so popular.

If you aim at reliable service, Xen will be a very good choice.

Xen has better isolation between VMs, and do have much better acceptance since Xen VPSes are mostly good. Less oversold guarantees the performance.

Yes, that is right, most host don't say this, but the xen ballon function is used to oversell ram to other vps and will not allocate the true dedicated amount.

Anyway, Xen PV and HVM, is still a better choice in different ways.

Xen/KVM will provide better isolation while OpenVZ provides higher bursting capabilities.

If I was to start a VPS business tomorrow I'd go with KVM. Why?

    - It's great technology,
    - It provides the user with a much more dedicated-server-like environment than OpenVZ,
    - It's very under-represented in the current market.

Do a survey of the 'VPS Offers' forum here and look at lowendbox.com. The ratio of OpenVZ : Xen : KVM is something like 100 : 10 : 1

For a new start-up business, KVM offers a nice niche market of discerning clients that have some understanding of the technology.

KVM for me. Never liked Xen really.

Also for those using rhel/centos, future support is for KVM, Xen being dropped from Rhel 6 onwards. Not that you won't be able to run it, just it isn't going to be supported anymore by Redhat.

as far as i know, not only rhel/centos. KVM is supported by Linux in general (Kernel).

    excerpt :
If you want to run a Xen host, you need to have a supported kernel. Linux doesn't come with Xen host support out of the box, though Linux has been shipping with support to run natively as a guest since the 2.6.23 kernel. What this means is that you don't just use a stock Linux distro to run Xen guests. Instead, you need to choose a Linux distro that ships with Xen support, or build a custom kernel. Or go with one of the commercial solutions based on Xen, like Citrix XenServer. The problem is that those solutions are not entirely open source.
and for answering OP question, i guess it's back to your requirement.

    excerpt :
The choice of KVM vs. Xen is as likely to be dictated by your vendors as anything else. If you're going with RHEL over the long haul, bank on KVM. If you're running on Amazon's EC2, you're already using Xen, and so on. The major Linux vendors seem to be standardizing on KVM, but there's plenty of commercial support out there for Xen. Citrix probably isn't going away anytime soon.

I was referring to the fact that Redhat were dropping Xen. Of course all linux os will support KVM, as it's built in to the linux kernel.

Yeah, sweet as cpservr.. I get what you were saying after the fact.
That's the reason I never liked Xen, well one of them anyway.

If I was starting new with a vps host, I would be using KVM for sure anyway, if I didn't want to use other proprietary software (vmware, xenserver etc).
