    PHP spider to copy content from another site?

    Is it possible to copy data from one site such as text, links, and images and transfer it to another site with PHP? If so, are there any free examples? This is not really for me, but someone asked and I wanted to find out. Thanks.

    Yes, it's called "content scraping". Not sure how ethical it is, but it's possible. You can do it using the following:

    $contents = file_get_contents('SourceWebsite');
    echo $contents;

    If you want to grab all pages, images, css etc from a site then you could just shell out to wget (rather than parsing the html for links etc).

    If the material is original and copyrighted - which it would be simply by being published - you may be violating the law in various jurisdictions.
