While out of country one of my VPS invoices from PhotonVPS went unpaid for a number of weeks and was terminted. Totaly my fault.
I opened a ticket asking if they could restore my VPS obviously happy to pay any old + new invoices they said they could do that ... happy days.
What I actualy got was a brand new VPS with my old VPS data put in /backup
I asked them if they could actualy restore the VPS as orgininaly requested or at least link me to a KB so I can do it myself (6 times) but I just keep getting a stcok reply saying "we retored your data" and "is it resolved yet" .... eh?
So I have given up hope that I will get a meaningfull reply from support or even just a plain 'NO'
So can anyone give e some advice on how to retore the VPS back to its original state they have just dumped the contents of / in to /backup
Happy to follow and guides and have tried googling but can find anything.
Well I tried to restore each directory from /backup to the place it should go then restarted the VPS.... VPS is DOWN! lol
I give up, just going to cancle the VPS and start from scratch with a provider that has a support dept worth speaking to.
I know its not a managed service but if I ask for a VPS to be restored and they agree to do so I dont think its unreasnable to expect the VPS to be restored rather than dumping all the files and folders from the old VPS on new one!
Assuming that they restored all of your files under /backup, which seems to be the case, I'd say that they did what they had told you and it's reasonable to expect that you can grab those files you need from there. That your VPS then went down because you chose to overwrite everything, as you mentioned in posting #10, really isn't their fault.
Typically a 30-day money back guarantee is for new customers only, have you checked their terms?
