Cannot Bind IPs for 2 IPs
I am setting up a squid3 proxy for my office (in order for employees to do business safely), and while I've done this several times in the past, sometimes having to bind the additional IPs to the primary, I'm having trouble with the /etc/network/interfaces file...
It says the file is automatically generated and, instead, to edit /etc/network/interfaces.template, a form which is entirely foreign to me. I've setup the two primary IPs successfully, and wonder how I can get the rest of the IPs binded properly.
Tried the IP Network Fix... the command was not recognized.
Using Ubuntu 10.10 VPS (running VZ)
This is how I do mine (debian 6)
# This file describes the network interfaces available on your system
# and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).
# The loopback network interface
iface lo inet loopback
# The primary network interface
iface eth0 inet static
# dns-* options are implemented by the resolvconf package, if installed
dns-nameservers 18.104.22.168 22.214.171.124
iface eth0:0 inet static
iface eth0:1 inet static
iface eth0:2 inet static
iface eth0:3 inet static
iface eth0:4 inet static
iface eth0:5 inet static
iface eth0:6 inet static
iface eth0:7 inet static
iface eth0:8 inet static
iface eth0:9 inet static
If its openVZ you may need to ask the Host to add the ip's for you.
Hope that helps.

This is an Virtuozzo system.
I've been using nano /etc/network/interfaces but it gives me a message that the file is automatically generated and, instead, to edit /etc/network/interfaces.template but that file is unfamiliar and I'm not sure how to bind the additional IPs to the primary.
Normally, this is done by adding:
iface auth0 inet static
iface auth0:0 inet static
Except the X's are obviously replaced with the actual information.
after I'm done I ctrl+o, ctrl+x, then:
The file is created/modified by Virtuozzo, is there any reason why you don't just do it through Virtuozzo's interface?
