Hello all, I'm new to the forum. I need a VPS for my network of websites I'm looking for a new provider.
I have an idea of what sizes etc I'm looking for but I need to find a control panel that has billing/support/account setup etc. Does DirectAdmin do this? I've only ever used cPanel. I'm looking for an equivalent of WHCMS but want something built in.
I've narrowed my choices down to WiredTree, ClubUptime and KnownHost. Who would you personally go for?
ClubUptime - Lots of node downtime last month. I wouldn't use them either.
We had four nodes out of 90 that had any quantity outages, and those outages were caused by DDOS attacks that were all 10gbps in size or greater. No company could have kept those boxes online.
Aside from that, every other server on our network had 99.99% uptime or greater.
█ Matthew Rosenblatt, and I do lots of things.
█ Currently a Master Electrician on Broadway.
█ My company, BurstAV, specializes in A/V Systems Design and integration.
█ I also own ConcertCables. We build power/data cables for the entertainment industry.
Where is best to get my server? California or Texas from KnownHost?
Depends on where the majority of your audience is. Texas is a more central location in the US so if your visitors are scattered, that would be your best bet. If the majority of your visitors on the west coast and Asia/Australia, then LA would be a more suitable location.
I've narrowed it down to ClubUptime and KnownHost now. Now to find the best deal. What's the difference between Xen and OpenVZ? I love the look of ClubUptime and I'm warming towards them. Someone sell it to me because I'm going to buy it tonight.
