I'm thinking to buy VPS from Hetzner.de for my blog network.
Most of traffic is from USA. What do you think about:
- does it work much slower then server from USA for visitors from USA
It depends. I have a VPS in US with a good connectivity inside US. But for two of German biggest End-User networks or the biggest DUL in Switzerland the connection is really, really bad (100-200kb/s in average, while over 1MB/s is normal for this network). Same to two big datacenters, like Hetzner has, in Germany.
On the other side, the connection seems to be fine for some DUL networks in Netherlands and UK and also to the DFN (German Research Network).
If no information is entered in Webmaster Tools, we'll rely largely on the site's country domain (.ca, .de, etc.). If an international domain (.com, .org, .eu, etc) has been used, we'll rely on the IP address. If you change hosting provider for a country domain, there should be no impact. If you change the hosting provider of an international domain to a provider in another country, we recommend using Webmaster Tools to tell us which country your site should be associated with.
