Hi I'm thinking of purchasing a VPS plan at burst.net and I need to use Lighttpd.
Will I be able to install Lighttpd on burst.net VPS?
Which OS and control panel should I choose?
Thank you.

Make sure you are familiar with lighttpd.
You can also try nginx.

It's a VPS. You can install/run anything you want as long as it's legal/within their ToS.
I'm curious, if you don't even know what OS to install, how do you know you even need lighttpd?

Most VPS's no matter what aslong as it's a linux operating system, don't really have anything to do with the provider can support that webserver.
Some places even offer it during the check out to be setup for them, ex: vpslatch.net

I need to use Lighttpd because of its mod_secdownload and mod_flv_streaming modules. On burst.net there are CentOS, Debian, Fedora, Ubuntu for me to choose and they are available in 32bit and 64bit. I'm not really familiar with server-side things so I'm still learning about them.
Thank you all for the kind and quick replies.

I'm guessing that you will most likely be looking for a control panel that supports lighttpd. If that is the case, then take a look at Kloxo which is free and supports Lighttpd with very minimal effort to install lighttpd.

Thank you for the recommendation.
I'm now running lighttpd on kloxo. I just realised that kloxo is the only control panel at the moment that provides the function that switches between apache and lighttpd which is perfect for me.
