Looking for UK/EU dedicated server ~£50/€60/month
Hi all,
I help run a car club and our current solution is beginning to have some major problems in serving our growing needs, so I'm looking at upgrading to a fully dedicated solution.
We currently have about £50 a month in the budget to spend on a dedicated server (I know it's not a massive amount but still).
We currently have about 180,000 unique visits a month and use about 70-100GB/month of bandwidth.
The forum software is vBulletin 4 (although I'm considering xenForo) and we have approx 5GB of attachment files, plus probably another 1GB or so of general files.
At the moment Leaseweb and Hetzner are on my radar but if anyone has any other suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
James.

Do you know what sort of specification you are after in particular?

Hi there,
Thanks for the reply, ideally I'm looking at something with at least 4GB RAM and a multi core CPU.
James.

Hi there,
I'm looking for UK or somewhere in the EU that would give decent enough response times from the UK (it's mainly a UK based forum)

Racksrv, veloxserv, OVH (if you willing to pay the setup fee)

4GB RAM and a multi core CPU seems a bit much.
You may also want to consider Cloud VPS Hosting.

Hetzner is good, you wont regret using them.
They are also within your budget.

To me the website sounds more suited to a decent VPS server, doesn't really seem that big traffic wise to require a server.
However OVH have some great pricing, just a small setup fee on your first month, unless you go yearly.
Hetzner have some good reviews around here, not used them personally yet however I think they also have a setup fee ( or they did last time I looked )

I've got an OVH RPS at the moment and I can't stand it if I'm honest, nothing but problems, plus the support is DIRE!
I know I'm asking a lot, but if I can get an affordable dedi server hopefully I won't need much support, hence looking at Hetzner / Leaseweb!
Thanks for your replies so far guys, it's just the €150 setup fee that's a hurdle with Hetzner!

Thanks for the recomendation Jake!
Maybe some premium hosting would be more suited to your needs, you'll pay a little more than shared servers but have a higher chunk of resources?

I would suggest one of the high end vserver offers at server4you. Extremely powerful hardware and you can store 3 free snapshots which I have found to be very handy.
16 CPU cores, 8GB RAM and 700MB/s disk I/O for 18Euros? You can't do better than that.

If you can stretch your budget a little (to cover VAT) you shouldn't find it impossible to find a host as there are a few reputable providers with a budget spec that you might be able to get upgraded to 4GB of RAM relatively easily.
