Is someone trying to scam me?

Hello all, I posted sometime ago about developer as partner and a guy contacted me. Started telling hes interested and all and told me that he'll do it. Next day comes and tell me its too much work and he cant trust me (i was giving all my servers roots to him) so he said pay him 600$ first and then he can trust me.

Hes got no proof that he'll do it after taking the money and hes saying if i dont pay him he'll post in wht about me that im scamming people. Any advise what i should do?

I wanted a partner and what this guy is saying is simple free lance work and i cant say no?

Why would you give root access to a guy/company you don't know? You should change the passwords ASAP and get a linux admin to check for back doors.

I'd say, don't do it. Find someone else. There are probably plenty of people who can do the type of work you need.

If he does post about you being a scam, simply provide evidence showing that you aren't and your name will be cleared.

It should be common sense, do you really need us to tell you to don't send him any money?

I agree with you. Why would you give someone the root access which you have no idea for.

What you should do now probably is to update all the root password to something else.

allways clarify everything before make any deals, and if someone ask upfront payment and not clarify before making deal, is pause caution.

Honestly, after reading this thread and the thread in the URL above, I'm confused. Especially that the username in the thread in which you announced searching for a partner is different from your username here. So who are you???
