RAID 1 possible between 3.5" and 2.5" SAS Drives?

    Hey,

I got an IBM X3550 able to support 2 3.5" or 4 2.5" sas drives. Currently I have a 3.5" 146GB 15krpm SAS drive. I am getting another sas drive to do a raid one, but could I get a 2.5" 146GB 10krpm SAS drive to do a RAID 1? Anything I should look out for, for compatibility issue?

Should be fine. The OS or controller doesn't know or care how big the drives are, it's just physical size.

I mean, I need to have the 2.5" IBM caddy/tray to use another HP harddisk with it right? With IBM caddy/tray and a 2.5" HP drive, how can I confirm if it will be compatible with my server?

IBM will void your warranty if you use non-IBM drives I believe. Not 100% sure on this though.
