I have created 2 pages in Wordpress. They are not published but they are in my "pages" section. I am using the theme "silent film". Now I want to make a menu. I go to the "menu" section and name my menu and then I assume I must use "custom links". I name my menu items but what do I use for a URL? Do I use the displayed permalink which is http://early1900photos.com/?page_id=6? The page that it would be linked to is "gallery" and so I would want the URL to be http://early1900photos.com/gallery. What is the method to do this?

I would think you need to change your permalink to

...early1900photos.com/gallery

You can do through edit-pages.php. Change this page according your requirements.

I agree with bennrobin, You should change your permalink.
