How do you manage information overload?
We live in a very competitive world, especially in this age of knowledge economy. Life is getting more and more complicated. The more knowledge you have the smarter you are. Everyday I am competing with my colleagues for promotion. I use mobile phones and tablets to consume news and articles, I am subscribed to dozens of newsletters to keep myself abreast of changes, my email is overloaded. It would be too risky to be too narrow focused in my career.
World is changing very fast. How do you handle information over-load?

For newsletters and subscribed emails I filter them to different labels and read them whenever I find time.
For websites I browse I got a folder on the bookmark bar named 'Read Later'. When I think I need to get back to something I make a search or browse through it.
I also use a screen shot plugin in Chrome to capture some useful pages which goes to certain folders (like a project I am working on) or bookmark the page to the project folder in bookmarks.

I am afraid that I have run out of memory in my brain. I don't think it was meant to deal with the rate of change society and technology has seen in the last 10-15 years.
To deal with it, everything I learn I catalog in my own database. Sounds corny, but I have the last 15 years of my life in a database. Everything that I have learned (and will undoubtedly forget), every problem I have encountered and everything that has happened to me (such as ailments and remedies) are all cataloged.
I only have the time to deal with immediate needs. I no longer have time to sit and read about the past and I don't have time to read about the future because it could be a 3 month fad that gets me nowhere.

Whenever I am visiting my village I think what's the need of all this, I feel relaxed and happy.
Back in my office, it's all stressed out and overloaded.
I carry a simple phone that simply keep me in touch with people I care for and my clients. For information I search for them as and when required.
