Apache vs Nginx for Windows?

Has anyone had any experience on using Nginx vs Apache on an older PC for web hosting, is it faster? Having some CPU/Memory issues (I think) with Apache after adding a couple things to a website that cause fast refreshes of the page (Javascript-based IM/Chat.)

Any ideas on cutting out anything unnecessary from Apache to speed it up?
