    Talking Cheap 1Gbps colo provider?

    Hello,

Do you know any cheap colo provider?

I know one provider but I don't want to colocate my server on their DC.

    Port Speed: 1Gbps

Bandwidth: My current bandwidth usage is under 100GB, but I don't want to pay overage charges so I need 5TB/m bandwidth or unmetered.

If you are only using 100GB, why would 1gbps even be necessary?

Who's the excluded provider that you do not wish to colocate with? A monthly/yearly budget would be a good place to start so we can recommend provider's in your price range.

You can check out Hurricane Electric and/or EGI (HE reseller).

Sounds like a great way to start off your new business.
You should focus on finding a reliable datacenter with affordable bandwidth prices. Your main concern is not having downtime, network quality, and support.

You are a new business, you don't want to start off by making any small amount of customers you sign up, leave you because of bad quality network/datacenter.

No, not for this purpose We have 10TB customers doing well in 100mbps switch ports.

Anyway, how do you define "cheap"?

Which location would you prefer? This is an important criteria for selecting colocation provider most of the time.

Where do you live, or where are most of your customers? Some people don't want their server to be colocated at the East when they live in the West.

How much bandwidth do you actually use? Unlike dedicated hosting, colocation customers will usually buy what they need and not what they think they need, which is why dedicated hosting companies oversell the bandwidth allotment since nobody's gonna use it. In this case, the $/Mbps is going to be significantly higher compared to dedicated hosting.

What amount is considered as affordable to you?

I am from India, I have already purchased a server in US and now I want to colocate my server in US(My server provider is ready to ship this to anywhere in US DC.)

I want to colocate 1U server, with 3 - 5 TB Bandwidth at 100mbps, unmetered is best for me.

And also I need a one Windows 2003 Data Center License + 40IPs.

    Hi there,

If you are going for a Colo, you'd better pay a little bit more to make sure you have a stable network. Bandwidth isn't cheap, unless it is not a quality one. 5 TB of quality guaranteed bandwidth would cost you at least $150/month. If your provider connects you on a shared port the price would go down, but you do not have guarantees then.

I would think you should be able to find what you are looking for at a number of datacenters for around the $100 mark, possibly less. I'd suggest sticking to the Western US if you are looking for good latency and throughput to India.
